Weekday Preschool

The Weekday Preschool ministry is an extension of First Baptist Church to and beyond the Matthews community. The Christian faith-based program’s purpose is to lovingly guide and prepare preschool-aged children for entry into elementary school. Our Biblical and academic curriculums address the overall developmental needs of the total child: spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and intellectual. Within our nurturing environment, we disciple all preschoolers with the hope and love of Jesus Christ while also encouraging children to develop creative and inquiring academic minds through active play and guided classroom learning.

Welcome!

We are so glad you are here!

Welcome to the First Baptist Church Matthews (FBCM) Weekday Preschool. We believe that every child, and the family that he/she represents, is a blessing from the Lord. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17). We look forward to ministering to your child and family as we encourage your child to know Jesus and to become all that God intended him/her to be.

Please thoroughly review the information provided here. For a downloadable informational flyer click here. You are then invited to contact the Weekday Preschool Director, Jeana Stewart, via email by clicking the link below should you have any questions or desire to schedule a tour to register your child (pending availability).

Curriculum

As a Christian faith-based Weekday Preschool, we share Bible stories and scripture with the children so that they may learn more about God and His love for us. We utilize the Wee Learn Curriculum as our academic foundation to plan creative and challenging age-appropriate educational activities for every preschooler. Our older preschoolers in our 4's and Transitional-Kindergarten (5’s) classes also engage in a teacher-led introductory handwriting curriculum, Handwriting Without Tears. Our goal at every age level is to prepare all children for the next year of Preschool or Kindergarten.

Weekday Preschool Days and Hours:

Monday-Thursday (Half-Day)

9:00am -1:00pm (Group 1 Families) and 9:15am - 1:15pm (Group 2 Families)

Our academic schedule follows the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System calendar annually for the months of September through May. Specifically, our calendar begins in September the Tuesday immediately following Labor Day and ends in May the week prior to Memorial Day. We utilize a car line on campus for morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Families are assigned a designated lobby location (one of three) on the church property and a specific time segment for daily drop-off and pick-up. Our director and staff greet families individually at their cars every morning to escort children safely into the building, and then walk the children directly back to their vehicles during afternoon dismissal.
