At First Baptist Matthews, our goal is to create a multigenerational faith that outlives the next generation.

Sunday Morning

Children have the opportunity to Reach IN to the church through exciting, action packed Sunday School Classes and Worship Time. At 9:00am we host a special learning environment for school-age children called The Depot, while preschool children are in age appropriate Sunday school groups. During the 10:30 service “Worship care” is available for infants through kindergarten. School age children are encouraged to attend church with their families at the 10:30 Worship Gathering.

The Safety of your child is of great importance to us.

Prior to attending Sunday school or The Depot you will need to visit one of our Kids Ministry Check in stations. If you are checking in more than one child, you will be able to check all of your children in at one time. Your child will be given a room assignment and security/check-in tags with a four-digit security code. Place the tag on your child’s shirt and drop your child off at his or her assigned room. Remember to keep the parent security tag as it ensures that you are the only person able to pick up your child at the end of Sunday service. If we need to contact you during the service, a text message will be sent to your phone.

If you are a first time guest or you attend First Baptist Matthews regularly, Kids Ministry Volunteers are always available to help you with the check-in process. All of our amazing adult volunteers have gone through an application process that includes a background check, interview, and personal references.

The Depot

Join us on Sunday mornings in the Fellowship Hall / Depot.

The Depot is a learning environment created just for kids from 1st through 5th grade at 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings. The gospel is presented in an age-centric and engaging manner as each child learns the truth revealed in scripture and engages in worship .

Trek Club

Trek Club is an optional and free after-school opportunity for Matthews Elementary 4th & 5th grade students on the first Tuesday of the month (October 1, 2024 – May 6, 2025) from 2:45 - 4:00 PM offered during the school year.

Students will be picked up on days attending by our amazing Trek Club leaders (leaders in our church who have been carefully screened by the church and CMS) and brought across to the church for fun, games, food, fellowship, and a devotion. Parents/guardians will pick up at the side entrance of the church facing Matthews Elementary School next to the church playground at 4:00 PM.
