First Baptist Church of Matthews is a "Church on Mission with GOD!"

Our Missions and Evangelism Ministry purpose is to become a community of Christ's followers who are motivated by God's Glory, transformed by God's Grace and empowered by God's Spirit; resulting in obedience to Christ's command to take the gospel and make disciples of all the nations.

We are organized around Acts 1:8, which says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth."  ESV

Our Jerusalem is local in Matthews and surrounding communities, our Judea and Samaria is North America and the end of the earth is International.  We have developed a Missions & Evangelism Council which includes a director for each of the Acts 1:8 areas.  We believe that this gives us a structure that will allow us to respond to any new mission opportunity God would call us to.  Jesus commands and sends us into the world to glorify Him!

Matthew 28:18-20 says, "And Jesus said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."  ESV
